12-20-2011 - Request from Mayor Michael Touhey Requesting the C - Item 19 (2).doc City of West Covina
Memorandum
A G E N D A
ITEM NO. 19
DATE December 20, 2011
TO: Andrew G. Pasmant, City Manager
and City Council
FROM: Chris Freeland, Deputy City Manager
SUBJECT: REQUEST FROM MAYOR MICHAEL TOUHEY REQUESTING THE CITY COUNCIL TO INSTRUCT CITY STAFF TO PREPARE A REPORT ON THE COSTS TO PROVIDE VIDEO WEBCASTS OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council direct staff accordingly.
DISCUSSION:
Per the City Council Standing Rules, Mayor Michael Touhey is seeking the City Council’s consensus to instruct City staff to prepare a report on the costs to provide video webcasts of
City Council meetings.
Since October 2010, the City of West Covina has provide the audio of the City Council meetings as part of the hardware and software upgrade to the City’s Sire Agenda system. This system
allows for City Council agendas with staff reports and supplemental documents to be organized for the publics review. Part of the upgrades of the system was to provide the audio of
the meetings to be aired live on the City’s website. Mayor Touhey is asking to see what the costs would be to upgrade the system to add video of the City Council meetings to be aired
on the webcasts.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The costs to upgrade the Sire Agenda system to provide video of the City Council meetings has not been determined.
