A. OTHER MATTERS OR ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None B. CONSENT CALENDAR 1. FORTHCOMING PLANNING COMMISSION MEETINGS AND PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULE Motion by Stewart, seconded by Sotelo, to approve the items listed. Motion carried 4-0 ( Redholtz absent.) C. PUBLIC HEARINGS (1) CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 11-13 PLANNING COMMISSION AUTHORIZED PLANNING DIRECTOR’S MODIFICATION NO. 11-26 APPLICANT: Kiet Lam, Grace Chinese Alliance Church LOCATION: 2133 West Garvey Avenue North REQUEST: The applicant is requesting approval of a conditional use permit to allow the operation of a church and a planning directors modification to allow various improvements to the site. COMMENTS: Toy Kai Chen, pastor of Grace Chinese Alliance Church, spoke in favor of the request. No one spoke in opposition. There was a discussion by the Commission regarding the number of parking spaces provided, availability of on-street parking, number of services to be held and the number of members the church has. In addition, the Commission considered the number of services to be held in the church and whether parking would be adequate for simultaneous services. It was the consensus of the Commission that the church would not have a detrimental impact on the surrounding area. In addition, the Commissioners expressed their support of the project. Motion by Sotelo, seconded by Holtz, to adopt Resolution No. 11-5447, approving Conditional Use Permit No. 11-13 and approving Planning Commission Authorized Planning Director’s Modification No. 11-26. Motion carried 4-0 (Redholtz absent.) D. NON-HEARING ITEMS (1) STUDY SESSION CODE AMENDMENT NO. 11-02 REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS A study session to provide information on legal requirements for reasonable accommodations as required by the Federal Fair Housing Acts. Staff recommends that the Planning Commission provide comment and direction as appropriate. COMMENTS: No one spoke regarding this matter. There was a discussion by the Commission regarding the types of accommodations that could be requested, what was required by the Fair Housing Act, and the adoption of guidelines to be used by staff when considering these types of requests. Carrico requested that staff contact other cities to see how they have implemented reasonable accommodations in their cities. Staff was directed to continue drafting an ordinance for hearing by the Planning Commission at a later date. E. OTHER MATTERS OR ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None F. COMMISSION REPORTS/COMMENTS AND MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS Carrico – regarding last Ridgeriders show in San Dimas. Holtz – regarding the status of the Equestrian Overlay Zone on Vanderhoof Drive.
