SUBJECT: REQUEST FROM COUNCILMEMBER KARIN ARMBRUST SEEKING THE CITY COUNCIL’S CONSENSUS TO INSTRUCT CITY STAFF TO APPLY FOR PROPOSITION 84 FUNDING FOR A DOG PARK IN WEST COVINA
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council direct staff accordingly.
DISCUSSION:
Per the City Council Standing Rules, Councilmember Karin Armbrust is seeking the City Council’s consensus to instruct City Staff to prepare a staff report to apply for Proposition 84
(State Park Grant) funding for a dog park in West Covina.
Proposition 84 was approved by voters for the creation of new parks and recreation facilities in critically underserved communities throughout California. The deadline to submit applications
for the second round of funding for this $368 million statewide park-funding program is July 1, 2011.
