02-15-2011 - Public HearingMaverick/Ridgeriders Park Master Pla - Item 11 Attach 5 (2).docAnswers to questions brought up during the public hearing of January 25, 2011 related to Maverick/Ridgeriders Park Master Plan Why is the City spending money on Maverick/Ridgeriders Park when other parks that are widely use north of the I-10 San Bernardino Freeway can benefit more people? The proposed park master plan crafts a vision for future improvements at the park. No work or improvements are being proposed or budgeted in conjunction with the park master plan. Maverick/Ridgeriders is the newest park (as it was recently purchased) and the only park without a park master plan. By preparing a Park Master Plan, the City will be more competitive in grant applications for this park. How much money has been spent on Del Norte and Palm View Park over the last ten years? The City has spent $383,600 at Del Norte Park in the past 10 years. Some of the improvements include outfield netting, baseball fields, picnic shelters, tennis courts rehabilitation, backstop lighting and dugouts. A total of $373,000 has been spent at Palm View Park in the past 10 years. Some of the improvements include shelter, volleyball courts, new play equipment, picnic shelter, snack bar repairs, tables, and new turf. Why hasn’t the Valencia Heights well on the park side been removed? The well is still being utilized by Valencia Heights. Are park improvements required to comply with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) requirements? Yes, parks are required by Federal law to comply with ADA. At such time as improvements are designed, staff will ensure that they comply with ADA.
