::ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVl A ANNEXING TO, INCORPORATING IN AND MAKING A
PART OF THE CITY OF NEST COVINA THE TERRITORY
DESIGNATED AS "EASTERLY ADDITION NO.' 2"
The City Council ofthe City of .Blest Covina, California, do
ordain as follows:
WHEREAS, a petition.signed by a majority of the qualified
voters in the territory adjoining the Easterly boundary of the City
of West Covina, designated in said petition as "Easterly Addition
No. 211, together with a map of said territory, was filed with the
City Council of the City of, West Covina on August llth, 1937,
petitioning paid City Council to call a special election in said
territory, as provided under Act 5159 of the General Laws of the
State of California, to vote on the question, "Shall "Easterly
Addition No. 211 be annexed to the City of West Covina?"; the legal
description of said territory so designated as "Easterly Addition
No. 211 being as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the easterly boundary of
the City of West Covina, as same existed July 1', 1937, with tl:�e
northerly line of the 6.0 foot strip of land described in deed for
Cortez Street (formerly Service Avenue), recorded in Book 11341,
page 352, Official Records of said county; thence in a general
easterly direction along said northerly line to the westerly line
of Barranca Street (formerly Barranca Street), as shown on map of
Tract No. 2371, recorded in Book 23, pages.98 and 99, of iUlaps, records
of said county: thence easterly in. a direct line to the southwesterly
corner of Lot 3, said tract; thence easterly along the northerly line
of Cortez Street (formerly California Avenue.) as shown on last
mentioned map, and following the same in all its various courses to
the most southerly corner of Lot 19, said last mentioned tract; thence
northerly in a direct line to the northeasterly corner of Lot 20, said
last mentioned tract; thence northwesterly in a direct line to the
easterly terminus of that certain course having a bearing.and length
of North of 8810 56 * OOt' West 480.18 feet in the southerly boundary of
Lot 29, Tract No. 10330, as shown on map recorded in Book 161, pages
22 to 31, inclusive, of iVIaps, records of said county: thence easterly
along the boundary of said last mentioned lot and follow ing the same
in all its various courses to the northwesterly terminus of that
certain curve having a radius of 1040 feet and a length of 132.13 feet
in the northeasterly boundary of slid last mentioned lot; thence
northerly in a direct line to the southerly extremity of that certain
curve having a radius of 1040 feet e .d a length of 131,21 feet in the
easterly boundary of Lot 6, said last mentioned tract; thence northerly
along the easterly boundary of said last mentioned lot and continuing
northerly along the northerly prolongation of that certain course
therein, which has a bearing of South 10 04' West, to the northerly
boundary of said last mentioned tract; thence northerly in a direct
line to the intersection of the northerly line of State Highway
(Arroyo Avenue), as described in deed to the State of California,
recorded in Book 11543, page 2e0, Official Records of said county,
with the Westerly line of Range Street as shown on map of the
Phillips Tract, recorded in Book 93, pages 3: and 4, TQliscellaneous
Records of said Countyl-thence northerly along said westerly line to
the easterly prolongation of the northerly line of Lot 6, Block 20,
of said last mentioned tract; thence westerly in a direct line to
the northeasterly corner of Lot 6, Block 26, said last mentioned
tract, said last mentioned corner being an angle point in the
boundary of said City cf West Covina; thence southerly along the
easterly boundary of said city to the point of beginning.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the f iling of said petition the said
City Council at its regular meeting held on Augi,Gt i1_ ig37 ,
did adopt a resolution calling for a special election to be held on
October l9th, 19379 in said territory designated as "Easterly
Addition Ro.. 2", notice of said election having been published according
to law.
11HEREAS3, at said election so held in said territory
designated as "Easterly Addition No. 211 on October 19th, 1937, a
majority of the votes cast were in favor of annexation to the City
of West Covina, to -wit, a total of 10 votes were cast, of which
number 10 votes were cast in favor of and no votes were cast
against annexation to the City of West Covina, and,
VMREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina deems
it desirable to annex said"Easterly Addition No. 211 to the City X
West Covina by an Ordinance rather than by special election,
• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINEED by the City Council of the

City of West Covina, that the territory he:einabov_e described
• designated as "Easterly Addition No. 211, is annexed to, incorporated
in, and made a part of the City of West Covina; that the City Clerk
of the City of West Covina be, and he is hereby directed to enter
thi e..Ordinande in the Records of the City of West Covina, and that a
copy of this :Ordinance duly certified under the seal of the City of
West Covina, together with a copy of the Resolution of this City
Council declaring the results of the special election cf' October 19th,
1937, of said "Easterly Addition No. 211, be submitted to the

Secretary of State, and to the County Surveyor of Los Angeles
County, California; and that the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
by posting the sane in three (3) public places in the City of West
Covina.

6 � of the City of West Covina,, entitled "An Ordinance annexing
To,` Incorporating In and Making a Part of the City of West Covina The
Territory designated as 4PEasterly Addition No. 211, in three public
places in said city, to -wit: one at the door of the West Covina Club
House, the same being the place where the regular meetings of the
City Council of the said City are held, one on Sunset Avenue in front
of the West Covina School House, and one at the Northwest corner of
Puente Street and Lark Ellen Boulevard.

of the qualified voters in the territory adjoining the Easterly
boundary of the City of West Covina, California, together with a
map of said territory, designated in said petition as "Easterly
Addition No. 211 was filed with the City Council of the City of
West Covina, petitioning said City Council to call a special
election in said territory to vote on the question "Shall the
Easterly Addition No. 2t be annexed to the City of West Covinay'T

being an angle point in the boundary of said City dE West Covina;
• thence southerly along the easterly boundary of said city to the
point of beginning.
That on October 19th, 1937, an election, duly called by
the City Council. of the City of West Covina, Califcrnia, as
provided by Act 5159 of the General. Laws of the State of
California, was held in the territory designated as "Easterly
Addition No. 211P and due publication having been made according to law.
That on October 27th , 1937, being the first regular
meeting of the said CityCouncil next after the expiration of
three days from and after the date of said election, the s:ai_d
City Council of the City of Viest Covina met for the purpose of
canvassing the votes east at said election and the returns of said
election.
• That the results of the canvass by the said City
Council of the votes cast at said election are &S follows:
• 1 That at the said election the total number of votes
cast was1.0 votes.
That the total number of votes cast for the proposition:
"Shall the territory designated as Easterly
_Addition. No. 2,t be annexed to the City of
West Covina?"
was 109 votes. YES

That the total number of votes cast for the proposition:
"Shall the territory designated as Easterly
Addition No.2" be annexed to the City of West
Covina?"

That the total number of votes east in the said election
in favor of annexation of the aforesaid territory to the City of
West Covina was I& votes, and that the total number of votes
cast against the annexation of the said territory to the City of
West Covina was nOO votes.
That on the 27th day of October, 1937, at the regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of West Covina, said City
Council by ordinance-:. adopted, annexed and incorporated in and
made a part of the City of West Covina, said territory described
as "Easterly Addition No. 2".. That said Ordinance was adopted by
the following vote:
