A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE WEST COVINA CITY COUNCIL
January 25, 1988
• The regular meeting of the West Covina City Council was called;to order at 7:30 pm
in the City Hall Council Chambers, 1444 W. Garvey Avenue, West Covina, California.
The Pledge of -Allegiance was led by Mayor Chappell and the invocation was given by
Rev. George Crites, New Beginnings Christian Fellowship.

Mayor Chappell presented a resolution of commendation
to Ruth Hurley for her twenty-five years of service to
the City of West Covina.
Mayor Chappell presented a permaplaque resolution of
commendation to Jack Truax for his retirement from the
directorship of the West Covina Branch, FBI.
Police K-9, Asko, and his handler, Officer Bogart, were
presented with a golden bone award for the retirement
of Asko from the Police force.

Drive, with an interim multiway stop installation.
City Engineer Thomas responded.
Approved Motion by Bacon, seconded by Shearer, and unanimously

Mayor Chappell opened the hearing and General Manager
McClelland presented the staff report.

Mayor Chappell opened the public testimony portion of the

hearing and City Clerk Mooney stated that the West Covina

Chamber of Commerce submitted a letter supporting the
proposed additions and amendments to the 1985 Uniform
Fire Code.

Mayor Chappell asked for oral comments and no one addresse
the City Council. The public testimony portion of the

Councilmember Bacon commenced the Council Discussion with
a concern about smoke detectors and requested a report
back on regulations thereof. Council concurred with
the request.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Katherine Castucci, 430 Pima Avenue, spoke about Los
Katherine Castucci Angeles sludge being transferred to the BKK Landfill.
Brad McFadden Brad McFadden, 620 Shasta Street, requested information
pertaining to the marketability of the Lakes Project.
He was encouraged to seek out the information through
the Redevelopment Agency.
The audience was reminded that the Council meetings would
not be used for political statements in conjunction with
the upcoming municipal election.
