by Mayor Shearer at 7:30
PM in the City.Hall Council Chambers, 1444 W. Garvey
Avenue, West Covina,

Joe Johnson Mayor Shearer introduced Joe Johnson, Engineer at BKK Landfill
who gave a slide presentation of their activities concerning
development of alternate technologies for the treatment of
• hazardous wastes.
HEARING ADOPTION OF UNIFORM CODES RELATING TO CONSTRUCTION
City Clerk Mooney verified the affidavit of publication.
Motion by Tice, seconded by..Tennant, and unanimously carried
to receive and file the affidavit.
Hearing opened Mayor.Shearer opened the hearing and the staff report
No testimony was presented by Building and Safety.Director Bill Fowler.
No one spoke in favor of or in opposition to the adoption
of the updated codes and the hearing was closed for public

COUNCILMEMBERS' REPORTS Bacon expressed concern regarding the continued medfly
spraying and requested staff to inquire the reason from
the Department of Agriculture.
Tennant explained that the medfly spraying has continued
because this area is still in the larval stage.
Tennant spoke about SB 341 banning drug paraphernalia
and suggested the City oppose the bill. He also requested
the City to oppose AB 1743, which Independent Cities is
opposing. Staff to check into both bills.

Mayor Shearer commented that there is a need for
parents to .control their youngsters regarding the video
games, that the..problem'is.not solely the City's .
responsibility to correct.

to -waive further reading of -the ordinances. Motion by Tice,
seconded by Tennant to adopt the ordinances. Motion carried
